We are delighted to announce the next concert this summer, with artists who met on a healing wavelength. Mayphy & Etsuko Muraki will have their fourth concert at Mandaracha on July 12.
MANDARACHA PRESENTS:
~The Sound of Summer Breeze~
In the ancient capital of Kyoto, where the sun shines and the colors of summer are shining, let's clear our ears and hearts and appreciate the natural change of seasons.
Take your time with the summer breeze, as if taking a sip of tea.

July 12 (Sat)
17:00-18:00
at Kyoto Mandaracha Tea House
Reservation required: 075 (285) 3283
At this concert, first of all, there is time to feel with your body the clear sound and long reverberation of the bell, and the comfortable sound that changes from a stable sound that resonates straight to a fluctuating sound. Afterwards, there will be songs woven by Mayphy on piano and vocals, and improvised compositions.
There will also be time to enjoy the new worlds that the two create through their harmony, with seasonal themes.
The collaboration song will be "Rebirth," which Mayphy composed in response to the Great East Japan Earthquake that occurred in 2011, and the piano accompaniment will be "La mer," a sea song from the chanson album produced by Mayphy, released on the summer solstice this year.
There will also be an improvised vocal story on the theme of nature and summer, set to the exquisite harmony of the orin, which is well worth listening to.
The event will include a Japanese-style mandala tea ceremony, and gentle vegan desserts and tea.

After organizing musicals, in 2006 she moved to the UK and studied music in London for 4 years. During her time studying abroad in London, she encountered traditional Indian music and experienced incorporating sitar, tanpura, tabla, and vocal raga into her live performances.
After moving to France in 2010, she performed with the world music band “Phildissime” and produced and released a mini-album including “Rebirth,” which has the theme of all living things expressed with instruments such as the Singing Bowl, Kaval flute, Oud, and Cello.

Etsuko Muraki profile:
Utilizing her experience as a therapist, she will be active as a “sound therapist” as a player of the Kyoto Sabari Orin from 2020. Orin, which is characterized by its clear tone and long reverberation, calms the listener's mind and brings deep relaxation. Through performances in spaces where you can feel nature and tradition, such as Japanese gardens, teahouses, and hotel events, we provide a "Sound Bath" where you can feel the sound with your whole body. During the performance, your five senses are sharpened, your concentration is heightened, and you will have a rich sense of emotion. We have also conveyed the charm of orin as a traditional culture of Kyoto to people overseas, and have received positive reviews.
[About Sahari Orin]
We use orin made by Nanjo Kobo in Uji, Kyoto, which continues to specialize in making orin, hayashi gongs, and musical instruments for Shinto and Buddhist altars, based on the advanced techniques and wisdom cultivated over a history of over 200 years since its founding.
"Sahari" is an alloy of copper and tin that was also used in the Shosoin treasures in ancient times.
At Nanjo Kobo, we take advantage of the characteristics of the material with the unique blend ratio and traditional techniques inherited from generation to generation, and create unique tones.
